Portobello Road Market is one of London's best loved street markets, winding through Notting Hill in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Stretching for nearly two miles along Portobello Road and up to Golborne Road, it has drawn collectors, traders and visitors since the late 1940s and is now widely described as the world's largest antiques market. Colourful storefronts, historic arcades and a creative crowd that took root in the Swinging Sixties give it a character you will not find anywhere else in the city.

Saturday is the headline day, when all five sections run at once and the antique arcades between Chepstow Villas and Westbourne Grove open up. To beat the crowds, arrive before 11:30am, as the street gets very busy by mid-morning.

With around a thousand dealers on a busy Saturday, it is a place to browse for hours rather than dash through.
