Galerie Max Hetzler: Pub in Mayfair, London

Galerie Max Hetzler is a contemporary art gallery in W1S 4NS. It is built for looking, not for crowds. The programme leans towards solo presentations by individual artists, shown as focused bodies of work rather than broad group surveys. That focus shapes who turns up. Collectors, curators, students and people who like to look slowly make up most of the room. You don't need an art history background to enjoy it. You do need patience. Give one artist's work time to build, and let the rooms set the pace. The longer you stay with a single body of work, the more it gives back.
