Gibney's is an Irish bar in Clerkenwell built around traditional music. The sessions here are the real thing: players bring instruments, no amplification, no set list, people arrive because they know what they're getting. It's not a show and it's not background noise. The bar fills with the sort of crowd that comes for the music itself, regulars mostly, and the whole thing has the feel of a local place where people actually belong. Clerkenwell's neighbourhood character has changed plenty over the years, but there's still room for places that know their thing and don't compromise on it.
