Piano Smithfield

City of London

Piano Smithfield is a place built around listening. The programme leans towards live sessions, where the music comes first and the room is set up to hear it properly. Expect artists who want a close, focused setting. Singer-songwriters, bands and collaborations tend to sit side by side, and the venue's art side means performance and visual ideas often mix with the music. The people who come are usually there for the artist. Sit near the front if you can. It is the best way to hear what a set is really doing. Pick your night by who is playing rather than by the date. The shows reward people who turn up curious and willing to hear something new.
