Woolwich Works: Pub in Greenwich, London

Woolwich Works is an art venue in SE18, and its programme keeps a wide lens. Some evenings take on environmental questions and the arguments around them. Others turn to culture, memory and identity, with work rooted in Ethiopian life and the stories people carry with them. That range is the point. One night can feel like a debate, and the next like a quiet room full of people looking closely at something new. The crowd tends to be curious rather than polished. People come to think and to look, and they often stay to talk. If you like art that asks something of you, this is a good place to start. Go in without a fixed idea of what you want.
