23 Lee Road, in SE3, leans towards music and family programming, with art as part of its identity. It's a room that knows its audience. Children's shows built around music and movement sit alongside family sing-alongs, where grown-ups join in as much as the kids. Midday recitals have a different mood. A lunchtime recital suits anyone who wants live music without committing to an evening. Ensembles play close up, and you don't need a programme to enjoy it. Festive programming tends to bring whole households through the door. Expect a busy room and plenty of noise at the right moments. Pick by what you want from the day. With small children, go for the interactive shows.
