The ICA in SW1Y is a place for listening closely. The programme leans towards live electronic music, experimental sets, and performances where the approach matters as much as the tune. Expect guitar played in ways that bend the rules, producers who perform live rather than press play, and sets that reward you for staying put. The crowd tends to be curious rather than dressed up. People come for the sound first and stay to talk about it afterwards. If you like music that asks something of you, this is a good place to start. It helps to know what you want from a night. Pick the rooms that take risks over the ones that play it safe.
