4.2

Noorderlicht is a café-restaurant at the water's edge on the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-Noord, with a view over the IJ. You go for a seasonal lunch or dinner, a long afternoon on the waterfront, and an evening of live music, a DJ, film or poetry. It has been here since 2004, when it started as a temporary pavilion on the old shipyard, and it has stayed. The kitchen cooks with the seasons, serving lunch from 12:00 to 16:00 and dinner from 17:30 to 21:00. The programme runs from concerts and DJs to film and poetry, so an evening here can easily outlast the meal. It is relaxed enough for a day out with everyone: children build huts by the water and dogs are welcome. Noorderlicht is on the NDSM-Plein, on the old shipyard itself. By ferry, take the F4 from behind Centraal or the F7 from Pontsteiger. From the landing, walk straight on and Noorderlicht is on your left after five minutes. Buses 391 and 394 stop at Klaprozenweg/Atatürk, also a five-minute walk. There are paid parking spaces at the door.
