Q-Factory: Music venue in Oostpoort, Amsterdam
Q-Factory is a music building on the Atlantisplein in Amsterdam-Oost, with two concert halls, a cafe, a hotel, recording studios and rehearsal rooms under one roof. Go for a gig in a mid-sized hall, from rock veterans and tribute bands to K-pop and touring pop acts from Eastern Europe. Since 2014 it has presented itself as Europe's largest music-making centre, and that shows in the daily traffic of bands carrying gear past the bar. The rehearsal rooms open every day, and academies and a creative hub for young companies share the building. The two halls hold about 1,000 and 300 people, and both are rented out for events. The cafe on the ground floor runs from breakfast to late evening, with a Q-burger, bitterballen and a buffet in the morning. There are no general opening hours for the halls, because each concert sets its own times. Upstairs, the music-themed hotel has rooms named The Backstage and The Artist. The opening hours shown here are for the café, which is open from 08:00 until 23:00 on Monday and Sunday and until midnight from Tuesday to Saturday, with the kitchen open from 12:00 to 21:00. Everything is paid by card. Lockers cost €4 during concerts. There are no dedicated wheelchair places, but the halls and café can be reached by lift. Oostpoort tram and bus stop is three minutes' walk away, Muiderpoort station five minutes, and the Q-Park garage is next door.
