Manchester by the Sea (2016)

Together with Fanclub Centrum, every two months we invite a special Amsterdammer to curate a film evening. This time, the honour goes to actor Joes Brauers, and together we will watch Kenneth Lonergan’s Oscar-winning 2016 drama ‘Manchester by the Sea’. ‘Manchester by the Sea’ tells the story of the Chandler family, a working-class family from Massachusetts. After his older brother Joe (Kyle Chandler) dies suddenly, Lee (Casey Affleck) is granted custody of his nephew (Lucas Hedges). Lee is reminded of a tragic past with his wife Randi (Michelle Williams) in the neighbourhood where he grew up. Fanclub Centrum is an online platform that highlights all the good things the centre of Amsterdam has to offer. For locals, by locals. Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.
