Sophie Hunger

Sophie Hunger grew up in Switzerland, England, and Germany. It is therefore not surprising that the young Swiss artist is fluent in multiple languages and uses this in her music. Her first album, ‘Sketches On Sea’, was released in 2006 and was described by The Guardian as the best of Laura Marling, Beth Orton, and Björk in one folk-rock package. But since her last album, ‘Supermoon’, from 2015, Hunger has made some significant changes in her life. Having moved to Berlin, Hunger traded her instruments for drum machines and software. She dove into the electronic heart of Berlin and, fueled by her new love, decided to create an entirely English-language album titled ‘MOLECULES’. Hunger herself describes it as “minimal electronic folk”. What hasn't changed are her headstrong pop songs: intimate, with haunting, subtle accompaniment, and her penetrating voice, which is powerful, melancholic, surprising, and versatile.
