North Chingford Library is a neighbourhood library first, and its programmes show it. Books come first. Around them sits a regular run of kids' craft sessions. Those sessions fall midweek and on Saturdays, which suits most family routines. Upcycled craft comes up too. The idea is simple: take something from the recycling bin and leave with something new. The crowd is mostly young children and the grown-ups who look after them. Expect a noisy, friendly room and a table that gets messy fast. Nobody minds the glitter. If you want a library where making things is part of the routine, this is the kind of place to know about. Go for the craft, stay for the shelves.
