Family-friendlyAccessible toiletSound amplification

Bijlmer Parktheater is the city theatre of Amsterdam Zuidoost, a rounded building by Paul de Ruiter between the Anton de Komplein and Nelson Mandelapark. Go for theatre, dance, music and youth shows that reflect the mix of the area, in a hall of up to 277 seats. Family Sundays and school holiday shows bring in younger audiences. The house specialises in intercultural programming, arts education and talent development, and calls itself the theatre of the new Netherlands. It is one of four Amsterdam Cultuurhuizen, alongside De Meervaart, Podium Mozaïek and Tolhuistuin, and has won the Noord-Holland Cultuurprijs. Jeugdtheaterschool Zuidoost, Untold and We Are On The Move all work from the building, Talentlab trains new makers over 18, and Wereldmakers is for children of 8 to 15. The theatre was built between 2005 and 2009 as part of the renewal of the Bijlmer, and it sees about 80,000 visitors a year, counting makers, companies and participants. The theatre needs more room, and the city has decided on a new Bijlmer Parktheater on the Anton de Komplein with several halls. The box office opens one hour before each show, and a 360-degree tour of the building is on the website. Tickets can be bought online at any time, and your phone gets scanned at the door. The ticket desk answers on 020 311 3933 and info@bijlmerparktheater.nl from Monday to Friday, 09:30 to 18:00. Bus stop Anton de Komplein is three minutes' walk away, on lines 41, 47 and 66. The nearest metro and train station is Bijlmer ArenA, on metro lines 50 and 54. There are two parking spaces for disabled badge holders, which cannot be booked, and the Q-Park garages P22 and P23 are close by. If you use a wheelchair or have other needs, contact the box office beforehand on 020 311 3930 or kassa@bijlmerparktheater.nl. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor and sound amplification through a wireless receiver and headphones, but no hearing loop, sign language interpreters or surtitles yet. The bar serves drinks and snacks, and the terrace closes in winter.
