4.6

Café Pierewaaier is a light-brown neighbourhood bar on the corner of the Laurierstraat in the Jordaan, Amsterdam, where you go for a fresh pint of Amstel, a homemade apple turnover or a pub quiz with friends. Ellen and Arjan took it on in May 2024, and the corner has been a local for years before that. Something is on every month. There are two pub quizzes a month, on the second Thursday and the fourth Sunday, written by De Andere Quiz for teams of two to four. Music bingo, the Pierewaaier's Jukebox theme night and informal live sets fill the rest of the calendar, and entry to the live sets is usually free. Quiz nights can sell out, so reserve by WhatsApp if you want a table. Food stays simple: a filling lunch and bar snacks. Behind the bar are Amstel, speciality beers on tap and by the bottle, wines at pub prices and cocktails with or without alcohol. Birthdays and leaving drinks are held in the bar itself. There is no separate party room, so the staff set aside space for your group while the café stays open to everyone else.
