Breugem Meeting Point: Brewery in Houthavens, Amsterdam

Serves foodGuided toursLive music

Breugem Meeting Point is the taproom of Brouwerij Breugem at Nieuwe Hemweg 2 in the Houthavens in Amsterdam, with the brewery right next door. Go for beer fresh from the tap, lunch or dinner in a spacious room, or an evening of live jazz or Brazilian dance. It is also a social enterprise, offering work to people who need a helping hand. Patrick Breugem founded the brewery in Zaandam in 2009 to create jobs for people for whom working is not a given, an idea drawn from his own recovery after a serious accident. After years of brewing at other breweries, the company took over this site from Brouwerij de Prael in March 2022, the place where he once learned to brew. It now produces around 100,000 litres a year, supplying wholesalers, shops and bars around the country. The kitchen keeps supply chains short and makes what it can in-house: fries are hand-cut, and burger buns and brownies use spent grain from the brewing process. Brewery tours and beer tastings can be booked, and the agenda includes Brazilian zouk and forró evenings and jazz sessions. There is a side room for meetings, and group menus for 10 to 200 people. The taproom opens on Mondays only on request.
