Club NYX is a queer nightclub on the Reguliersdwarsstraat in the centre of Amsterdam, open to anyone who wants to drink, dance and laugh, whatever their orientation. It fills a four-storey former carriage house, with three floors for dancing and bars, and suits a night out that moves from room to room. NYX took over from Exit, the gay disco that ran here from 1988 to 2010, and is named after the Greek goddess of the night. The club says it was founded as an open-minded place and grew into a mix of gay, straight and everyone in between. The crowd tends to be young. The nights divide up by audience: Thursdays are aimed at students, Friday is Vrijdag is NYX, and Saturday belongs to the queer night 3xNYX. Each floor has its own bar and its own music, with a VOID sound system, a large lounge on top and a very colourful toilet area. Capacity is about 850, and the floors can also be hired separately for launches, company parties or weddings. Doors open for these club nights rather than for walk-in drinks, so check the agenda.
