About Zone2Source
Zone2Source is an art space in the Amstelpark in the south of Amsterdam that calls itself a testing ground for art and ecology. Go for exhibitions in Het Glazen Huis, a glass pavilion among the trees, and for artworks and artist gardens you can find on a walk through the park.
Het Glazen Huis shows work year-round, mostly by artists who look at how people relate to plants, animals and landscape. The outdoor works can be seen on any day, among them Secret Garden by Justin Bennett and Rhizotrons by Debra Solomon. The artist gardens, such as Extreme Salad World and the Shadow Garden, grow through the seasons. From May to September the Orangerie becomes the Park Studio, where residents work.
The glass house came from the 1972 Floriade, the garden show the Amstelpark was laid out for, and was designed by Frans van Gool and Nol Oyevaar. Zone2Source has its office in the Rietveld Paviljoen nearby, and Alice Smits is director and curator. To get there, take metro 50 or 51 or tram 4 to RAI, a seven-minute walk from the main park entrance, then follow the signs along the path to the right after the bridge. Outside opening hours you can visit by appointment.
