Lambeth Palace is the Archbishop of Canterbury's home, and it's been central to English religion and politics for centuries. It doesn't host regular events, but opens to the public on summer days. The atmosphere is formally institutional without pretence. You'd come to walk through spaces where church decisions have been made, to see inside a building most Londoners recognize from the South Bank. SE1 is institutional architecture on both sides of the river, and the Palace carries genuine weight in that landscape. When it opens, expect crowds and a sense of real historical significance. It's rare access to a place that matters quietly and officially.
