Downstairs at 180 hosts a Tuesday night ritual where London's jazz players gather for a proper jam session. Hosted by Andrea Rinciari, it's the kind of night where you might walk in as a listener and leave having watched someone find their moment on stage.
Open jam means it's not a polished set. Musicians test ideas, riff off each other, sometimes finding magic in the gaps. If you play and want to join in, you can. If you just want to watch good players work through standards and originals, that's the whole point.
It's the sort of thing London does better than anywhere. A basement, good people, no pretence.
