Putney Heath's proper open space on London's southwest edge. The kind of place most people just drive past, but there's something worth walking around if someone else figures out the route for you.

You meet at the Telegraph and head out with a group. That takes the thinking out of it when you're in unfamiliar territory. The sociability of organized walking matters more than it sounds, especially if you don't know the area yet.

Come back to the pub afterwards if you want. It's the kind of ritual that works best if you're new to southwest London or just need an excuse to get out of central for a Saturday morning.
