A Beautiful Mess Amsterdam is a Middle Eastern restaurant on the ground floor of the Booking.com head office at Oosterdok, with a view across the IJ towards NEMO. Come for lunch, drinks or dinner built around shared dishes such as hummus, muhammara, falafel and flatbread, cooked from the home countries of the chefs.

The restaurant is run by Refugee Company, which offers paid jobs and volunteer work in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Arnhem to people who once fled to the Netherlands. The kitchen and the floor are where they build work experience and financial independence. A Beautiful Mess is signed up to the Dutch code for social enterprises.

All the food is halal, and much of the menu is vegetarian or vegan, so a mixed table is easy to feed. The cocktails borrow from Middle Eastern aromas.
