About BRET
BRET is a club, craft beer bar and eetcafé in a red cube on the Orlyplein in Sloterdijk, Amsterdam. You go in the daytime for local beer and organic food in a green garden among the office blocks, or at night for electronic music in the club.
It started as a craft beer bar with a plan to put some life into the grey Sloterdijk area, then added food from organic sources and local farms. The square around it was turned into a park. The beer garden has an amphitheatre, a pergola for shade and at least 50 local beers on tap or in bottles, with Gulpener on draught. The neighbouring Tuin van Bret has co-working space and occasional events, and the glass-walled rooftop takes private groups of 15 to 25.
Club nights aim for a balance of electronic genres, with room for local names. There are no fixed club hours, as it runs per event through the agenda, and tickets go through Celebratix. The door is strict: minimum age 21, group size no more than four, and no suits, uniforms, formal shirts or joggers. Staff may ask what you know about the night, the cloakroom is compulsory, and bags can be searched.
