CLUB RAUM: Club in Sloterdijk, Amsterdam
Club RAUM is a queer-run electronic music club on the Humberweg near Sloterdijk station in Amsterdam, in a former bookbindery on an industrial estate. It grew out of SPIELRAUM, the queer techno party, and is the place for long nights of high-quality sound in a room built around the LGBTQ+ community, with everyone else welcome if they respect that. Diego Meijers and Sven Bijma began SPIELRAUM in 2017, first at Radion and then at Garage Noord, before opening this club in April 2024 at a site found through Temporary Palaces. Reports at the opening gave about 400 people on the upper dance floor and around 150 in a second room below. A newer room, Nexus, is described by the club as a dark, vertical counterpart to the Studio. The club also has its own residents. The rules are part of the identity. The minimum age is 21, phone cameras are covered with a sticker at the door, and no filming or smart glasses are allowed. Formal suits, business wear and sports-club merchandise can get you refused, and groups in the queue are limited to three. An awareness team works the floor. The club opens per event, so the programme page decides whether it is open.
