4.6

De Sloot is a theatre workplace behind Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, in a former metalworking factory on the Rhôneweg. You come to see try-outs, last nights, festivals and parties by the theatre makers who rehearse here, in a post-industrial space of 3,300 square metres. Theatre collective De Warme Winkel and BOG. opened it in May 2022 as the first theatre incubator in Amsterdam. There are two theatre halls, a large flat-floor room and a smaller one, along with three rehearsal rooms and studios. Makers such as Silbersee, Boogaerdt/Van der Schoot and Black Sheep Can Fly work here alongside students from the Amsterdam University of the Arts. The programme is irregular and experimental by design, so it pays to look at the agenda. Everything happens on one site. Vegan people's kitchen De Sering serves food next to the halls, and Dance Space Destiny runs a movement studio. The building also holds a boxing school and small offices, and the rooms can be hired for making, rehearsing or performing. De Sloot is supported by the city's studio programme and private funds. Tickets are usually sold by the performing company or organiser rather than the venue, so go to them with questions.
