Parallel: Club in Overhoeks, Amsterdam

Parallel is a nightclub in Amsterdam-Noord, inside the Tolhuistuin building just across the IJ from Centraal Station. It opened in March 2022 in the renovated space formerly known as Tolhuistuin/Paradiso Noord, and you go for adventurous club nights that value the room and the crowd over a big name on the poster. The programme mixes in-house bookings with Amsterdam promoters, across electronic music and hip-hop, from amapiano and UK garage to techno and Afro house. Concerts, exhibitions, art installations and spoken word also run here. The club does not publish fixed hours, and show times appear on each event page. The door is strict about behaviour rather than looks: visible intoxication, large groups, suits and football shirts can all get you turned away, and any form of discrimination leads to removal. Phone flashes are covered at the door, and on some nights the camera too. The entrance is at the back of the building, across the Galgenveldbrug. All club nights are 18+, which does not apply to concerts in Parallel/Tolhuistuin. Payment is by debit or credit card only, and American Express is not accepted. The lockers are the exception: they take coins, and there is a coin machine on the ground floor. Trolleys, suitcases and large backpacks are not allowed in, and small backpacks go in a locker. From Noord, bus 38 runs to the Buiksloterweg ferry stop. The closest car park is under the A'DAM Tower at Overhoeksplein 5, 150 metres away.
