About Shelter Amsterdam
Shelter is the underground club in the basement of the A'DAM Toren on the Overhoeksplein in Amsterdam-Noord, across the IJ from Centraal. You enter through a lifted hatch on the square and go down for house, techno, trance, Italo disco and Afro house on a Funktion-One sound system, under a ceiling of LED screens.
It opened in 2016. A renovation in early 2024 added a second room and a full redesign. Emerging DJs and big names share the same booth, and the club also runs the Night Gallery, a series of exhibitions, so it reaches beyond the dance floor.
There are no fixed opening hours: Shelter opens on club nights, and special events and weekenders can differ, so check the programme. The minimum age is 18 and there is no strict dress code, though suits, dress shirts and football shirts can be refused. Phones stay away: the no-phone policy covers the dance floors and the venue itself.

- Where is the entrance to Shelter?
- The entrance is at Overhoeksplein 1, next to the A'DAM Toren. Look for the lifted hatch on the square, which leads down to the club.
- How do you get to Shelter from Amsterdam Centraal?
- Take the free F3 ferry from behind Centraal to Buiksloterweg; it runs day and night and takes a few minutes. Turn left towards the A'DAM Toren, cross the bridge and go right around the tower to the Overhoeksplein.
