QueerHub: Community centre in Nieuw-West, Amsterdam

LGBTQ+ welcomingFree for community groups55 m² room

QueerHub Nieuw-West is a rainbow living room in Garage Notweg, on the Notweg in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, where queer people from the district can meet, relax, learn and organise. Go for the weekly Thursday hangout, a film with food, or a workshop, in a space that has been renovated into a warm second home. It is an initiative of Pink Nieuw West, which works for the visibility, freedom and safety of the LGBTQIA+ community in the district. The organisers say it is not always easy to show every side of yourself in a neighbourhood this diverse, so the hub offers a place where being queer is not up for debate. The programme includes film evenings with a shared meal, the Gedeelde Strijd film festival, creative sessions and soup nights. At the hangouts you can also speak one to one with a social worker from Veilige Haven at no cost. Community groups can use the room free of charge. It is on the first floor of Garage Notweg, with the entrance on the ground floor.
