Live musicWi-FiKitchen

De Willem de Zwijgerkerk is a former church and now a neighbourhood stage on the Olympiaweg in the Stadionbuurt in Amsterdam. Go for a free Buurtconcert, an open stage or a tango evening in a 1931 Amsterdam School building with stained glass and a restored organ. The Buurtconcerten are the core of the programme: free, on donation, around an hour long and followed by drinks. An Open Podium gives local performers a stage, the Tangosalon brings dancers in, and exhibitions and a collaboration with OCCII add to the mix. The building is also for hire, for groups from 3 to 250, with a Yamaha grand piano, a kitchen and a separate chapel. Tram 24 and bus 15 stop nearby, and metro lines 50 and 51 are within reach. Architect Cornelis Kruyswijk built the church in 1931, and Kees Kuiler made the stained glass. The Van Leeuwen organ was restored in 2008 and the tower in 2011, and the building is a municipal monument. It has worked as a buurtpodium since 2022. The last service of the congregation took place on 27 September 2026, when the keys passed to a new group, so church services are no longer held here.
