Escapehood: Escape Rooms in Westpoort, Amsterdam

The two rooms

In Premiere at Cinehood you start as an audience in a cinema. The film stops, director Izaak du Nord appears on screen, and your group goes behind the scenes to restore the missing scenes. It takes 3 to 8 players for 60 minutes, from age 7, and has a tension rating of 2.

The Forget Lab is the harder room. Schools are being visited by a professor whose drink wipes children's memories, and you have an hour to break into his house, switch off the security and find the elixir. It also takes 3 to 8 players for 60 minutes, starts at age 10 and has a tension rating of 4. Both rooms run in Dutch or English and the level can be adjusted.

Prices

You pay per session, and the price per person falls as the group grows. Three players pay €147 in total, four €150, five €160, six €170, seven €180 and eight €190. That works out at €49 down to €23.75 per person. The site mentions a separate weekend rate in its rebooking terms, so check the price at checkout.

Booking and cancelling

Book online. Arrive 10 minutes before your start time, because the doors can stay shut earlier while staff reset the rooms. You always check in at the Playhood reception, as there is no direct way into Escapehood.

The FAQ gives free cancellation or rebooking more than 7 days out, a 50% refund between 7 and 2 days out, and no refund within 48 hours, though a one-off move can still be possible. The room pages advertise free cancellation up to 48 hours before, so read the terms when you book.

Children and parties

Rooms are capped at 8 players with no exceptions, so larger groups book two rooms at once. Children's parties take 3 to 8 children per room, one adult joins for free, and there is a photo afterwards. A party can be extended with drinks, snacks or a birthday cake. All children under 15 must stay under the supervision of a parent or carer.

The Escape Hangout

Every visit starts in the Escape Hangout, where you are welcomed, leave your coat and valuables and sit at a table before the game. The venue is run by Playhood, the indoor play centre in the same building.
