How the game works

You play as one team of 2 to 6, with no other group in the room. The game runs for 90 minutes, though the venue warns you may be on your feet for around 100 minutes in all. Professional actors drive the story, and they are trained to respect your personal boundaries.

Expect darkness, flickering lights, loud sounds and moments of real tension, and be ready to kneel or crawl. There are several emergency buttons, staff watch the game throughout, and you can stop at any time.

Prices and booking

You book a date and time online and pay for the game. A regular slot costs €165 to €253 for 2 to 6 players, an off-peak slot €155 to €243.

You get a refund if you cancel at least 72 hours ahead. Between 72 and 24 hours you can only reschedule, for €85, and inside 24 hours nothing can be changed. Arrive 30 minutes late or more and you cannot play or claim a refund. Gift vouchers do not expire.

Who it suits

This is for adults and older teenagers who like being scared. The policy is 16+ with an adult present, and younger children are an exception you have to arrange with the venue if their parents come along. You need basic English, as the game runs in English only, and you should wear comfortable clothes and no high heels.

Anyone visibly drunk or high is turned away with no refund. Groups larger than six are pointed to other Logic Locks games.

Accessibility

The site is an old historic space and access is limited. The venue asks you to call or email before booking if you have specific requirements, and pregnant players are told to decide for themselves, knowing the game is intense and you may not sit down for 100 minutes.

Getting there

The address is Haarlemmerstraat 124-126: ring the doorbell on the right of the outer gate. It is about a 10-minute walk from Centraal. The venue advises against coming by car because parking nearby is hard to find. If you must drive, it recommends IJ Dock Parking, which you need to reserve at least 24 hours ahead.

History and who runs it

Game studio Logic Locks, active in Amsterdam since 2014, opened the Catacombs in 2017 after more than a year of building with artists, technicians and performers. The studio says it has kept developing the game since. The room has won a Golden Lock award and has featured in the TERPECA enthusiasts' ranking of escape rooms since 2018, as a finalist as recently as 2025. The church above it, also known as Onze Lieve Vrouwe Onbevlekt Ontvangen, was designed by P.J.H. Cuypers in 1860.
