Good to know

What is there

OpenStreetMap marks two table tennis tables close together in the northern part of the park. We found no booking system or listing of who maintains them, and no bats for hire, so bring your own bats and ball. We could not confirm whether nets are fitted, and the tables stand outdoors, so the weather decides when you can play.

The park

The Frederik Hendrikplantsoen lies in the Frederik Hendrikbuurt, with a road and tram line splitting it into a northern and a southern part. It was named in 1886 and renovated in 2015. There is a basketball court too.

The trees and art are worth a look while you wait your turn: a maple from 1947, two plane trees from 1910 and the sculpture Droombeeld by Cephas Stauthamer from 1965. The area was once known for its sawmills, and singer Johnny Jordaan lived here.

Getting there

Tram 3 runs past the park, and the stops Frederik Hendrikplantsoen and Marnixplein are both close by. On foot, the Zaagpoortbrug links the park to the Marnixplein.
