The park

Sarphatipark was laid out in English landscape style to a design by Jacobus van Niftrik. Work began in 1885 and the park took the name of Samuel Sarphati in 1888; during the occupation, from 1942 to 1945, it was renamed Bollandpark. The Sarphati monument dates from 1886, is a rijksmonument and was restored in 1993.
