Beest Boulders Amsterdam: Climbing & Bouldering in Bos en Lommer
Beest Boulders Amsterdam is a bouldering hall of more than 3,400 m² on the Willem de Zwijgerlaan in Bos en Lommer, which the chain bills as the largest in the city. You climb without ropes on walls of about 4.5 metres above thick mats, at every level from first-timer upwards. It suits beginners, regulars and groups, and the kitchen, terrace and shop mean you can stay long after your arms give out.

What you can climb
The hall covers more than 3,400 m², and a section of wall is reset every week, so regulars keep getting new boulders. Problems run across all levels and you work at your own pace. There is also an equipped training room with a spray wall and a campus board.
Your first visit
You get a short instruction on how bouldering works, how to climb safely and what to watch out for. After that you can go on by yourself. The introduction costs €24.50 for adults and €22 for young people, shoes included, and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. All you bring is sports clothing.
Registration is compulsory. It costs €5 and gets you a member pass that works at every Beest Boulders and Klimmuur branch.
Prices
A first adult day entry is €19.70 and a day entry with a pass is €14.70. Students pay €11.25 in off-peak hours, which run Monday to Friday until 17:00 and at weekends from 17:00. Ten-visit cards are €130, or €99 off-peak. Shoe hire is €4.50 and a chalk bag €3.
Monthly direct debit is €61.50 from age 26, €57 for ages 18 to 25 and €45 for off-peak only, with a minimum term of three months. Youth up to 17 have their own day and subscription rates.
Children and groups
Bouldering is open from age 8, and children under 12 must be actively supervised by an adult. Groups of more than six always reserve in advance. For groups there is a session called Boulderbeleving at €31.50 per person, plus a youth version with pancakes at €30.50. The site also runs a youth club, technique courses and training subscriptions.
Food, drink and shop
The bar serves lunch, dinner, snacks and coffee from its own kitchen, on a seasonal menu. There is a terrace, and a sitting area with an open fire. The shop sells climbing gear, and staff give advice on what to buy. Lockers and storage spaces are available in the hall, though Beest does not take personal belongings into its care.
