Good to know

The table

The table is outdoors and open to everyone, marked on OpenStreetMap as a public pitch and last checked there in April 2025. It sits by a playground in the park, which makes it handy for a family outing. Bats and balls are not provided here, so bring your own. It is a table and nothing more: no lights, no booking system and no staff that we could confirm.

The park

The Nelson Mandelapark is a large park in the middle of the Bijlmer. It was called the Bijlmerpark until 2014. After Mandela died in December 2013, Amsterdam held an online vote on which of five places should take his name, and the Bijlmerpark won with 37.3 percent. It has sports fields, a skate park, a magnolia valley and an arboretum planted with native trees from the many countries the neighbourhood's residents come from. That makes it easy to turn a game into a longer visit.

Getting there

The nearest bus stops are Hofgeest, about 205 metres away, and Nelson Mandelapark, about 280 metres. Metro station Bullewijk is just under a kilometre from the table. OpenStreetMap shows the exact spot, near the playground.
