Lindengracht
Every Saturday the Lindengracht in the Jordaan turns into a general market more than 900 metres long. I amsterdam counts 224 stalls and says it was first held in 1894. It is one long street, Saturday only, with the rest of the Jordaan on both sides, so you can leave the market at any point and be in the neighbourhood's side streets.

When to go
The market runs on Saturdays from 9am to 5pm. I amsterdam and the city's market data agree on those hours. There is no market here on other days. Since the Noordermarkt also trades on Saturday, and the two are a few streets apart, you can do both in one morning.
What's on the stalls
I amsterdam describes it as a general market with a wide variety of goods, without listing them. Expect a mix rather than a speciality; our photo shows a cheese stall. There is no website of its own, only a Facebook page.
