Noordermarkt

Saturday and MondayOrganicAntiquesDe Jordaan

The Noordermarkt is held on the square in front of the Noorderkerk, in the Jordaan, on two days of the week, and the two days are different markets. Saturday brings a separate organic market with vegetables, bread, cheese, meat, fish, honey and flowers, next to the stalls of antiques, books and vintage clothes. Monday morning is only the second-hand side: glass and tableware, jewellery, textiles, prints and paintings. The market's own list runs longer still, down to school prints, antique tiles and carpets.

Saturday or Monday

Saturday runs from 9am to 4pm and Monday from 9am to 2pm. Come on Saturday for food, and on Monday if you are looking for second-hand goods without the Saturday crowd. I amsterdam suggests the same. The market is also open on Easter Monday and Whit Monday, which is worth knowing because many other markets close on public holidays.

What's on the stalls

The market groups its stalls by what they sell: antiques and curiosities, books, flowers and plants, food and drink, ethnographica, glass and tableware, vintage clothes, lamps, hats, school prints and posters, jewellery and gemstones, scarves, toys, bags, carpets, antique tiles, textiles and haberdashery, and goods from around the world. I amsterdam also mentions Zeeland oysters on Saturdays.
