Radion: Club in Nieuw-West, Amsterdam
RADION is a techno club in the former ACTA dental faculty on the Louwesweg in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, in business since 2014. It has room for about 1,500 people and a 24-hour permit, so this is the place to go when you want a night that does not end at closing time, in a building that was never meant for music. Five people started it, among them Staas Lucassen, after the dental school moved to the Vrije Universiteit in 2010 and the Urban Resort foundation looked for a new use for the site. The permit came in May 2015. RADION says it is not a traditional rental venue: it builds nights together with promoters, artists and labels it shares something with, and says no to a lot. Regular club nights fall on Fridays and Saturdays, with exact times per event in the programme. It is an 18+ venue, some nights are 21+, and you need a physical ID. Club Care, its own awareness team, has a booth next to the Bovenkamer entrance on every club night, for first aid, water, earplugs or a quiet word. Bars take tokens, sold by card.

Common questions
- What was the RADION building before it was a club?
- It was home to ACTA, the Academic Centre for Dentistry, which moved to the Vrije Universiteit in 2010. RADION still calls it the former ACTA building, and the club has been there since 2014.
- Does RADION have a 24-hour licence?
- Yes, the club received its 24-hour permit in May 2015. That does not mean every night runs around the clock, so check the event page for the times of each night.
- What is the minimum age at RADION?
- RADION is 18+, and some events are 21+. You need a valid physical passport, ID card or driving licence at the door, because photos and copies are not accepted.
- What are the lockers like at RADION?
- There are small coin lockers for phones and wallets and large lockers for coats and bags. The large ones work with a rental fee and a key deposit you get back at the end of the night.
- When is RADION open?
- Regular nights are on Fridays and Saturdays from 23:00. Some nights start earlier or run longer, so check the programme for exact times.
