The hall
More than 200 routes are set for all levels. The training area has hangboards and a range of machines, and there is a full-size Kilter board and a mirrored Tension board 2, both of which sit at an angle between 30 and 50 degrees depending on the day. The bar serves coffee and cake, fresh meals and beer. On weekdays it usually stays open about an hour after climbing ends. Food and drink from outside are not allowed, apart from closable water bottles.

A day ticket costs €14.50 from age 25, €13.40 for ages 18 to 24 and €11.20 for ages 6 to 17, and you can climb for as long as you like. Shoe hire is €4.50 and a chalk bag €3. A 10-visit card is €130.20, €120.20 or €100.20 by age, stays valid for two years and works at the group's other halls. Children, courses and groups
Climbing starts at age 6. Children aged 6 to 11 need direct adult supervision, with no more than two children per adult, and from 12 they can climb alone once a parent has signed them in at the first visit. Youth lessons run in 10-week blocks in fixed groups of eight, in Dutch or English, with a youth subscription of €59 a month that also covers free climbing.
Groups of eight or more must book. An instructor costs €70 an hour or €105 for 90 minutes, plus normal entry per person. The children's clinic costs €25 per child, from age 8 with at least six children, and ends with lemonade and crisps. Email info@boulderhalluchthaven.nl to arrange it. The gym also runs PE lessons and outings for schools.
Getting there
Cycling takes around 15 minutes from Leidseplein, and there is plenty of bike parking at the door. By car, take exit S107 and you are two minutes away, close to the junction of the A4 and A10. There is limited free parking on site. Street parking is paid on weekdays from 09:00 to 19:00 and free in the evening and all weekend. For public transport, the gym points visitors to the 9292 journey planner.
House rules
Sign in at the desk when you arrive. Wear climbing shoes on the walls and socks in rented shoes, keep your shirt on, and take off your jewellery. The mats are fall zones, so walk on the concrete and do not sit on them. Keep at least 1.5 metres from other climbers. Pets are not allowed.
