Bloemenmarkt

Flowers and plantsOn the SingelCentrum

The Bloemenmarkt is a row of stalls in glass houses along the Singel, between the Muntplein and the Koningsplein. From the street it looks like a line of shops. From the water you can see that they stand on the canal itself, which is why I amsterdam calls it a floating flower market and a permanent fixture of the city centre. The stalls sell flowers and plants, and a good part of the offer is bulbs and seed packets made for the suitcase.

When to go

We could not confirm the days. I amsterdam describes the market as daily. The city's market data lists it Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm, with a later start on Saturday, but that data dates from 2022. There is no market website to settle it, so we leave the days and times out here.

What's on the stalls

The city files it under flowers and plants. On the stalls you will find cut flowers, bulbs, seeds and souvenirs. If you are buying bulbs to take home, check first whether your country allows them.
