Best exhibitions in London

London runs major exhibitions and intimate shows side by side, and there is always something opening. Museums and galleries across the city mount survey shows, single-room presentations and touring blockbusters, often several at once, so the venues to keep an eye on are the ones with a full programme rather than a single headline.

The venues below are ordered by how busy their exhibition programme is, drawn from the shows each has coming up. It is a picture of where the activity is rather than a critic's list, so a venue near the top is one with plenty on that you can go and see in person.
